Published by the IEEE Computer Society 0018-9162/10/$26.00 © 2010 IEEE Society Honors Five Top Computing Professionals T he IEEE Computer Society recently presented its prestigious Technical Achievement Award to fi ve noted computing experts. The award recognizes outstanding and innovative contributions to the fi elds of computer and information science and engineering or computer technology, usually within the past 10, and not more than 15 years. The 2010 winners are Venu Govindaraju, for pioneering contributions to biometrics systems; Tyrone Grandison, for pioneering contributions to secure and private data management; Eunice Santos, for pioneering contributions to computational social network systems; Ashok N. Srivastava, for pioneering contributions to intelligent information systems; and Hong-Jiang Zhang, for pioneering contributions to multimedia content analysis systems.
